For everyone who has hung in there with me and for me the past few years—thank you. My seeming disappearance was caused by many factors, not the least of which is that I’m usually a solitary person.
I’ve been a writer most of my life. I wrote more computer code than I can remember, first in college (wow, punched cards!), then many years at IBM, followed by owning my own software company, then being a consultant.
I’ve written seven books (the novel is still unpublished) and many websites. I’ve written music for my Memories of Home CD, plus music for my Fool’s Journey classes. And now there’s a big push to write some new music for our big upcoming event—which I’ll get to in a minute.
All of these are solitary activities, and it hasn’t always been easy for me to come out of my cave. But I also love teaching, which I’m happy to say I’m resuming next month.
Working on the Fool’s Journey concept and materials has consumed my full time since 2000. I constantly make new discoveries about this work and about myself. I write about them, gathering new material and expanding in new directions—only to look up months later and realize I haven’t shared any of it.
Therefore, I’m committing myself to a set of new priorities—which all center around sharing what I’ve discovered, especially in the last two years or so. Just as important, the world has changed in that time, and we must all change with it, myself as much as anyone. So here’s what’s new.
The Freeya Alliance
My first live workshop in several years will be the weekend of February 10. It’s called the Freeya Initiation Event. Here’s how the concept and the event came about.
Through the intermediary of my wife, Pamela, I met Catherine Van Wetter about a year ago. We three hit it off and it wasn’t long before I discovered that Catherine’s Constellation work and my Fool’s Journey work might complement each other. It has turned out that they indeed do.
About the same time I was recovering from a near-fatal crash of my C: drive, followed a month later when two of my websites were hacked, apparently by Russian spambots. Okay. I soon realized it was time to begin a new phase of my work.
I had already coined the name “Freeya” as a cross between the phrase “free you” and the Norse goddess Freyja—with whom I have an affinity. Forming an alliance with Catherine led me to see that a much broader Alliance was required, not only with The Few, but also with other people in new and creative ways.
A New Website
So I set up a new website, TheFreeyaAlliance.com. Putting the emphasis on alliances not only helped draw me out again, but also created a much larger context for the Fool’s Journey. It has created a structure for both local and online communities, where we can support each other on our Journeys. Reaching an online audience was something I have been working on for two years, and as soon as this first Initiation Event is over, I will add several Fool’s Journey courses that not only cover the material in the first two volumes of The Fool’s Secret Journey books in greater depth, but also new material that describes the practices. I have about forty of these practices that follow the chapters in Volume 2. I know some of you have waited for this material during this time, and you should start seeing it online in March.
Meanwhile, there is a second advantage to new kinds of spiritually-based alliances: People of like minds can branch out and create social structures, communities, and working co-ops of kinds that may not even exist at present. Now is the time when we desperately need to find new, creative ways to band together against the depredations of the outer world that seem to be increasing daily. A key part of Journey, after all, is Strength. But this is necessarily Strength by Alliance. What is required—especially now in the encroaching Age of Anarchy—is beyond what any one person can do alone.
The new Fool’s Journey site
I started TheFoolsJourney.net site in 2008—the dinosaur age compared to today’s web technologies. So I rewrote it last year using WordPress, and I’m working to expand it, both with the online courses and other kinds of new capabilities that weren’t available back then. For example, I’d like to have a private social media hub inside this site where we can freely discuss our Journeys and discoveries, and be of aid to each other. Strength, again, by community and cooperation.
I’d like to put up a lot more about the New Spirituality—specifically its aims and terminology. I have worked hard to avoid using traditional, dated religious and spiritual terms that are confusing and turn many people off. We need clean concepts that attract people, not repel them. First up will be a lot more about the spiritual Wisdom Beings I’ve been calling The Few. Who are they, how are they trying to contact us, and, of course, how can we learn to hear them more clearly?
I’ll keep you posted
We have a lot planned, and I’d like to keep you posted when new content becomes available. I’m going to start a new mailing list to manage this, so if you’re interested in staying in, or getting in the loop, sign up at TheFreeyaAlliance.com/freeya-interest.
And if there’s something you’d like to see in particular, or just to say Hi, head over to the Contact Us page.
